Underlying the casual atmosphere and the natural beauty of the National Dong Hwa University campus is a fundamental earnestness and dedication to the ideals of academic excellence and creativity. The University encourages the free exchange of ideas among students, faculty and staff, alike, that contribute to a mutual understanding and a widespread tolerance for diversity. To this purpose, the Office of Student Affairs provides students copious opportunities for personal, cultural, social, and professional development that complement the richly complex and challenging academic life of the University. The Office recognizes students as mature, independent, and free-thinking men and women who are committed to making the best use of the University's resources to achieve their educational goals, contribute to the University community, and serve as responsible citizens in Taiwanese society. It also seeks to uphold the highest standards of personal behavior and good citizenship among University students by encouraging integrity, respect, and an altruistic concern for others. Indeed, the Office expends tremendous efforts to provide students with counseling and guidance that encourages them to take the initiative to develop a diverse program of extracurricular activities that complements their academic progress.
National Dong Hwa University accepts a number of overseas Chinese students each year and offers special assistance to students with physical disabilities. Arrangements for language training, academic enrichment, special dormitory facilities, and other types of routine help in daily life are offered to ensure that handicapped students are given the opportunity to blend into the overall student body with ease. |
